Textbooks are Expensive - Here are a Few Money Saving Tips

  1. Place a textbook pre-order
Pre-order your student's textbooks after they register for classes and we will have their books ready for pick up at the store at the beginning of the semester! Fast, easy and convenient! You can choose your preference of rental, used, or new books. You know your student will get the correct books as we are the official store of CU Boulder! Best of all, one lucky student who places a pre-order will WIN their textbooks for the semester!
  2. Shop early and rent textbooks, or buy used books
We know the price of textbooks is high, and we try to do everything we can to keep the costs low. The first thing we do is carry as many used books as possible, because they save you 25% off the new price of the book. We also offer as many textbook rentals as we can. You or your student can purchase ALL their needed textbooks from our website and have them delivered right to your/their door or choose in store pick-up.
  3. Return a book promptly if a class has been dropped
The bookstore only carries those items requested by the instructor. We try to make this easy. Students can get a full refund through the first week in the fall and spring semester with an original receipt and in its original condition. (The bookstore limits the refund period to the first week of class because most publishers require that we return books to them by a certain date.)
  4. Have your student sell their books at the end of the semester
Our first source for used books is your student! If an instructor has requested a textbook for the next semester, the CU Book Store will pay students 50% of the new price until their orders are filled. If the book is not being used, we will contract with a company to buy the book from your student for a wholesale price.

Credit Card Authorization Form

Does your student need to make a purchase on your credit card without the card being present? Do we need to put a refund on your credit card for a textbook return. To do so, your student will need to bring the completed authorization form with them to the store.
