What other software licensing options do I have with CU? What's the difference between normal boxed software and licenses? It is important to clearly distinguish between “Full-Packaged Product” (FPP) software, and software licensing. The Full-Packaged Product is sometimes referred to as “Finished Goods”. Essentially, it is a shrink-wrapped box which usually contains an install disc and documentation. This type of product continues to be sold in the CU Book Store but its price is considerably more expensive than if you are able to purchase software licensing. Licensing is available for certain titles due to the volumes in which the University purchases software, and it is usually a download or an install disc without any packaging or documentation. As a result, software licensing is available at a greatly reduced price. To find out which titles of FPP software we carry, please visit the Buffalo Chip or call us at 303-492-3431.I’m a CU member and I want to purchase an Adobe software license for a computer the University owns. How can I do that?Unfortunately you should NOT use the CU Book Store to buy Microsoft licensing for University-owned computers. Fortunately, the University and the state have options for you. For the CU-Boulder campus, the University has a Microsoft Campus Agreement (MSCA) for certain titles. The state also has a contract with Insight for other campuses and for titles not available through the MSCA. The MSCA applies to departments, as well as faculty and staff for work-use. Both the MSCA and Insight licensing are explained at http://www.colorado.edu/its/licenses/microsoft/. CU Students, faculty, and staff can purchase licensing for personal use at very low prices on-line through e-Academy as explained below.I’m a CU member and I want to purchase an Adobe software license for a computer I own.
