Online Ordering Problem
Empty Shopping Cart in IE7

There have been sporadic reports of users that been unable to purchase textbooks online using the online ordering system. The problem occurs when the user clicks to add textbooks into their shopping cart, but the shopping cart says it is empty.

Here is more information about the problem:

  • The problem seems to occur only with Internet Explorer 7 (and occasionally AOL).
  • Most Internet Explorer 7 users do not experience this problem, so it is something specific to the user’s computer.
  • May be related to security settings, either inside Internet Explorer, or in security software, such as McCaffee or Norton.

Solutions:

  • Make sure that cookies are enabled and functioning. For information on this, visit http://www.cubookstore.com/textbooks/computer_requirements.cfm

  • If the above step does not fix the problem, try placing the order with a different browser (Firefox, for example, seems to work great, and is available for free from http://www.mozilla.com  ). This should fix the problem for everyone. If for some reason this is not an option, here are some other steps you can try:
      • Try a different computer, if available.
      • Try temporarily disabling security software, such as Norton or McCaffee. (If you don’t know how to do this, you will need to contact the maker of that software.)
      • Try temporarily lowering the "Security" and/or "Privacy" settings for Internet Explorer by going to Tools > Internet Options.
      • Physically come into the CU Book Store to make your purchases.
