Virginia DeJohn Anderson

Professor Anderson’s area of specialization is the history of Colonial and Revolutionary America. Her publications have until now focused on the seventeenth century. Her most recent book (Creatures of Empire: How Domestic Animals Transformed Early America, 2004) combined ethnohistorical and environmental history approaches to examine the impact of imported livestock on Anglo-Indian relations in the North American colonies. More recently, her new book project moves into the eighteenth century, exploring the history and public memory of the American Revolution. She is also co-author of a U.S. history textbook, The American Journey
